College Football Playoff approaches, restaurants seek more help

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Host Committee is expecting 100,000 fans to descend on Indianapolis in the days leading up to the College Football Playoff on Jan. 10.

Restaurants, who are already seeing a shortage in staff, are seeking even more help as the game and the busy holiday season approaches.

“I’m hiring for front of house especially, host especially — I’ll take some servers, bartenders. If you can cook, come on down,” said Jeff Huron, general manager of the District Tap.

The “Help Wanted” sign is also out at 9 Irish Brothers pub on Massachusetts Avenue.

“The hardest part is actually getting people to show up for the interviews — that’s the most frustrating part,” said manager Michael Collier.

The College Football Playoff Host Committee itself is also looking for unpaid volunteers to greet visitors and staff events. Visit Indysportscorp.org for more information.

WISH-TV is the official local broadcast partner of the College Football Playoff.
