Colts introduce Frank Reich as head coach
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Colts have a new man to lead the team.
Frank Reich was formally introduced as the head coach of the Colts Tuesday afternoon.
The Colts reportedly inked Reich to a five-year deal.
Reich spent the two previous seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles, winning the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots this season.
Reich’s hire comes after the Colts previously had an agreement with Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh MacDaniels to become coach, who ultimately decided to return to the Patriots.
Colts owner Jim Irsay emailed a letter to fans after the Tuesday news conference:
“Please know how grateful we are for your support and enthusiasm for the Colts over the years. You are the bedrock of our entire organization, especially after a season like the one we just had.
“We were clearly not where we wanted to be as a team this past season, and I share your frustration. It was only our fifth losing season in the past 24 years, so none of us is accustomed to years like 2017. As Owner and CEO, losing is intolerable to me, and you deserve better.“That’s why our entire organization is singularly focused on building a team you will be proud of.
“We have a great general manager in Chris Ballard who has an extensive plan to regain our excellence on the field. Our new head coach Frank Reich shares our excitement about the future of this team and already has hit the ground running in Indianapolis. We’re also preparing actively for off-season free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft.“Most importantly, we have fans like you whose support helps fuel our team on and off the field.
“I am committed to returning your team to its winning ways. In the meantime, we hope you’ll keep the faith and stick with us because good things are coming.”
