Community honors slain Deputy Jacob Pickett by helping another law enforcement family

LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) — People gathered at the Boone County Fairgrounds on Saturday to remember Deputy Jacob Pickett, who was killed in the line of duty two years ago. They used their time together to help another family.

Some in attendance participated in a silent auction to raise money for another officer’s family after his wife was diagnosed with cancer.

All of this is a part of the mission of the Jacob Pickett Response Organization.

“I’m just humbled and honored that the community is supporting us and supporting the ‘Jacob Pickett Response Organization’ so that we can continue his legacy by responding to others,” said Jen Pickett, the deputy’s widow.

Organizers said planning for next year’s fundraiser has already begun.
