Community Link: Herd Strategies

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On this week’s edition of Community Link, we discussed a company headquartered in Indianapolis that is changing the way we see marketing.

Founder and leader of Herd Strategies Denise Herd dropped by our studios to share more information.

When did you start Herd Strategies and what do you do?

We’re a full service marketing, branding and public relations company located in in downtown Indianapolis. We’re helping organizations find their voice and also connecting their voice to markets.

What needs did you see when you started the company in the community?

When I started the company, I started to solve a problem. I looked at myself being an African-American woman and thought I think I might be on to something here. So I decided I would take those assets and roll those into my company to make sure I could be a voice for those that may not have a voice.

How would you advise young people who are very invested in social media?

Social media is here to stay. We have platforms that exist now that didn’t three or five years ago and we’re going to continue to see that trend. We have to be very cognizant of what we’re posting because it stays there forever. I advise young people that a 4.0 GPA plus great community service plus one bad social media post equals a lost college scholarship or acceptance. There are ways to find information on the internet that you don’t know about so you don’t want that to creep up. Just be responsible and be careful what you post.
