Concerns as coronavirus arrives in Indiana

Concerns as COVID-19 spreads

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Globally, the coronavirus seems to be the most dangerous for older people but in Indiana, two of our first known cases are children.

How does the coronavirus affect children compared to adults?

WISH-TV’s medical reporter Dr. Mary Gillis, D.Ed. was on Daybreak to answer some of those questions and speak to those concerns.

She said that currently, there is no evidence showing that children are more at risk for contracting the virus than older adults. However, she did say that children could present milder symptoms.

Some mild coronavirus symptoms include low-grade fever, cough and shortness of breath.
