COVID-19 vaccine could be available as early as September, Oxford University researchers say

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Oxford University researchers are set to begin a clinical trial at the end of May to test a potential vaccine for the coronavirus.

On Thursday, News 8’s medical reporter, Dr. Mary Gillis, D.Ed., discussed how the scientists got a jump start toward the vaccine by building upon their previous research.

Gillis also talked about researchers’ plans to test the vaccine safely, yet aggressively. They are aiming to recruit over 6,000 people for the trial.

If proven effective, the COVID-19 vaccine could be available to the public as early as September.
