1 captured, 1 at large after inmates escape Henry County minimum security facility
NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — One inmate was caught and another remains at large after the two escaped from the Henry County Transition Center Wednesday night.
According to Henry County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jay Davis, Blake Tutrow and Jacob Vanpelt escaped the minimum security facility located at 1124 Broad Street around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The inmates escaped through an unsecured door while a security check was being conducted.
Tutrow was found just a few blocks away from the facility and taken back into custody. Vanpelt remains at large.
Vanpelt, 26, was booked into the facility on pending charges of dealing methamphetamine, criminal recklessness, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of marijuana.
He is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 158 pounds.
