Police on Dec. 4 announced the arrest of 32-year-old Derek Oechsle for his alleged involvement for the murder of Christopher Smith.

Smith died as a result of injuries sustained in a shooting on Nov. 29.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One man has died and another is injured after a shooting inside a pub on the city’s south side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to Jake’s Pub, 1280 W. Southport Road, around 9:50 p.m. Friday on a report of possibly two people shot.

Two men were found shot and taken to area hospitals, where one man was pronounced deceased and the other man remains in serious condition, according to Officer Genae Cook at the scene.

A disturbance between two people occurred inside the pub before the shooting, and one of the people shot was possibly one of the people involved in the original disturbance, Cook said.

Police on Friday night believed all responsible parties were contained and there was not threat to the public.

Many witnesses remained on scene and were cooperating with detectives.

No information about the identities or relationship of the victims was immediately available.
