1 found dead in backyard, 1 injured after shooting on east side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died and another is in serious condition after they were found shot Tuesday afternoon in a residential area on the city’s east side.
Police and a medic crew were called to a report of a person shot shortly before 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of North Linwood Ave. That’s south of East 10th Street between North Sherman Drive and Emerson Avenue.
Officer Genae Cook with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the two men were found shot in the backyard. The man who survived was taken to Eskenzai Hospital. The other man died at the scene.
The victim has been identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as 25-year-old Domanic Simmons.
Police did not immediately provide additional information about the shooting.
