BARGERSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A person is in custody after shots were fired at Bargersville police officers on Sunday night.

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at the Clary Crossing Apartments, off County Road 300 West and County Road 700 North, around 8 p.m. Sunday.

A male suspect exited a residence with a pistol, and as an officer pulled in, the suspect fired shots in the direction of the officer, according to public information officer Jeremy Roe with Bargersville Police Department.

Officers did not fire shots, and no one was injured.

The officer who was shot at reversed to gain distance to cover and re-engaged with the suspect, Roe said. The suspect, who police believe was intoxicated, was ordered to the ground and taken into custody by the officer, Roe said.

Police on Sunday night were not identifying the person arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
