1 fatally shot in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — An 18-year-old died after a shooting in Lawrence, according to the city’s police department.

Officers were called for a report of a gunshot just before noon in the 4600 block of North Sadlier Drive, a residential area just east of the East 46th Street overpass for I-465.

Officers found William Maxie III, 18, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died a short time later.

Police said the shooting may have stemmed from an attempted robbery.

The suspect fled north from the crime scene on foot, police said.
