MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A Muncie Animal Care and Services officer found 15 cats and kittens dumped by a river over the weekend, Animal Care and Services said in a Facebook post Sunday.
The felines, some as young as one week old, were found in a crate near the river by Reynard Road in Muncie.
Muncie’s animal shelter is currently 100 cats over capacity with 400 in its care, according to the post.
“Dumping any animal in a cage with absolutely nothing is cruel (and) inhumane, and anyone who does it needs to be held accountable,” the post read.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to visit the shelter during business hours to fill out a witness statement.
