2 males in critical condition after shooting outside east side home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two males younger than 25 were in critical condition Thursday night after a shooting outside a home on the city’s east side. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to reported “shots fired” about 9:50 p.m. in the 3800 block of East 31st Street. The call was upgraded to a “person shot” when a person was observed laying in the street and people were guns were nearby. 

IMPD Capt. Michael Elder said one of the males was in “extremely critical condition” at IU Health Methodist Hospital. His injuries were so severe he could not talk with investigators before going to the hospital. 

The other male was in critical condition at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Elder said. 

One male was shot inside a black sport-utility vehicle. The other male was shot outside the SUV.

IMPD investigators said two or three suspects were detained at the scene, and no other suspects were being sought.
