INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An arrest has been made in an October homicide, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said 19-year-old Nathaniel Williams has been taken into custody for the shooting death of 19-year-old Michael Williams.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot just before 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 3600 block of Lawnview Lane. That’s in an apartment complex on the city’s west side just east of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Officers arrived to find Michael Williams suffering from injuries due to a gunshot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nathaniel Williams was arrested Wednesday, IMPD said Monday in a news release.

IMPD said the 19-year-olds, although they share a last name, are not related.

Court documents showed a drug deal led to the shooting.

Online court records said Nathaniel Williams will be formally charged on Wednesday.

At the time of the shooting, the homicide was listed as the city’s 200th in 2020.
