Body found in near north side home investigated as homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man found dead Monday morning is being investigated by police as a homicide. 

Community Corrections asked officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to check on the welfare of a person in the 3200 block of North Ruckle Street, near 32nd Street and Central Avenue, around 9:30 Monday morning. 

An IMPD monthly homicide report issued at the start of April identified the man as Gerald Beamon, 18. The weapon was listed as a 9mm firearm.

Officers arrived to find Beamon inside the residence, IMPD said around 6 p.m. Monday.

No information about a possible suspect or the circumstances of the death were immediately provided by police.
