Dallas PD: ‘We still don’t have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects’

DALLAS, Ala. (MEDIA GENERAL) — Three suspects are in custody and one was killed after a shootout with Dallas authorities early Friday morning.

In a brief press conference, Dallas Police Chief David Brown stated police were in negotiations with a fourth suspect reportedly linked to Thursday night’s deadly shootings in Dallas. Brown said they had been negotiating for nearly an hour with the suspect in a two-story parking garage at El Centro College. He was exchanging gunfire with police in a standoff. Brown said the suspect told officers on scene that, “the end is coming” and he’s going to, “hurt and kill more of us in law enforcement.”

Brown continued, adding that the suspect said there are, “bombs all over the place in the garage and downtown [Dallas].”

Just after 4 a.m. ET, multiple news outlets reported the suspect in the standoff is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The standoff is now over.

Three people are in custody at this time. Brown says they arrested a woman in the same area of the garage. Police are also questioning two occupants of a vehicle after one officer saw a person throw a bag into the back of the vehicle and drove off.

Brown says they are still looking for other possible suspects. “We still don’t have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects,” he added, “so we will continue a very, very rigorous investigation and search of downtown.”

Brown asked for the public’s prayers and support as the investigation continues.
