24-year-old man ID’d in downtown death investigation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A death investigation is currently underway downtown, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Just before 3 a.m. Thursday morning, officers were called to the area of East Washington and Pine streets for a report of a person shot.

IMPD said once officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male who had been shot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the victim as 24-year-old Ysmael Garcia.

It’s unclear what led up to the fatal shooting.

There was no suspect information released.
