Ex-principal of elementary school charged with sexual misconduct with minor

MODOC, Ind. (WISH) — A former elementary school principal was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual misconduct with children, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department says.

Ashley Breedlove, 34, of Farmland, is charged with five felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to a news release from Capt. Tom Pullins of the sheriff’s department. Her bond was set at $12,000, Pullins said. The release did not say whether Breedlove remained incarcerated.

The sheriff’s department referred all questions to the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutor David M. Daly did not immediately respond to an email from News 8 on Tuesday afternoon. No online court records have been filed in Breedlove’s case.

Breedlove’s next court date was unknown. A person at the Randolph County Clerk’s Office in Winchester redirected a Tuesday afternoon call to its office to a voice mail for the wrong court. However, News 8 later learned Randolph Circuit Court has sealed the case, making information about it unavailable to the public.

Breedlove resigned as principal of Union Elementary School in Modoc on Oct. 18, according to a statement from Michael Huber, the superintendent of the Union School Corp. based in Modoc.

Union Elementary School is a kindergarten-Grade 6 facility with about 125 students that’s located about a 50-mile drive northeast from Indianapolis.

Huber’s statement said, “Providing a safe school environment and a high-quality education to our students have always been paramount. With this in mind, Union School Corporation supports the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office.”

The superintendent’s statement also said the school district will issue no further comments on the allegations due to the ongoing investigation of Breedlove.
