Family left with confusion and heartache after murder-suicide
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A family is left with questions, confusion and heartache after police discovered the bodies of a married couple in a west-side apartment. Investigators call it a murder-suicide, but loved ones are having a touch time accepting that.
Police found the bodies of 66-year old Linda Miller and 63-year old Mark Miller Monday night in the Darby Court apartments near West 21st Street and I-465.
Wally and Bill Miller’s circle isn’t complete without their brother Mark.
“Laughing, carrying on, we’re family full of laughter and joy,” said Bill Miller.
The last time Bill laughed with Mark was Sunday night over the phone.
“We was talking about our beards. He said his stopped growing and I kind of made a couple jokes about it and we just laughed,” he said.
But the laughter turned to silence the next day when police discovered the bodies of Mark and his wife Linda in their west-side apartment in a murder-suicide.
“I just can’t imagine how this even happened. It’s puzzling,” said Bill.
According to the Miller brothers, Linda and Mark had been married for 35 years, have raised two children together and describe their relationship as loving.
“He’d always tell you, he’d do anything for her. Nothing would stand in the way of him doing what she needed,” said Wally Miller.
In fact, the Miller brothers don’t recall any serious domestic issues between the two.
But Wally does recall a recent conversation.
“One thing he had said just weeks ago, that they would never be separated. He said we’re not going to be separated,” he said.
Looking back, Wally believes that could offer insight. He says Linda had debilitating health problems while Mark’s health was declining. The couple also faced financial problems.
“I just feel like it’s something that they, maybe not mapped out, but something they came to a conclusion,” said Bill Miller.
And now, if Bill could only have one more phone conversation, it would sound much different than laughter.
“Well if I knew then what I know now, I would just say, Mark you need to reach out,” he said.
