IMPD: Man wanted for wife’s murder shoots self when confronted by officers
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Officers say a man wanted for his wife’s murder tried to take his own life when confronted by police.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says 62-year-old Floyd Jones shot himself when officers located him in the 3400 block of West Morris Street.
IMPD says officers found Floyd outside of a residence and that officers tried to get him to surrender peacefully.
Several minutes later, he shot himself.
He’s now at a hospital in critical condition.
His wife, 52-year-old Deedee Jones, was found dead by police Thursday afternoon when officers were called to check on the welfare of a person in the 1500 block of South Concord Street.
Police had been searching for Floyd Jones since then, describing him as armed and dangerous.
