IMPD offers free self-defense classes for public citizens

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department gave the public the same self-defense techniques that they teach police officers on Wednesday night.

The southwest district hosted a free class at their headquarters, to practice and teach basic defense maneuvers.

Even more importantly, citizens learned how to recognize the dangers signs of their environment.

These are the same principles that police recruits are taught.

Police said that even though crime is down, that attendance in the class remains high, especially in the aftermath of certain high profile cases.
