IMPD: Same armed men robbed 2 gas stations
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating two early morning armed robberies Tuesday that they believe involved the same two suspects.
The first happened at 1:26 a.m. at a Shell gas station in the 3000 block of North Illinois Street. Police say the two suspects entered the store wearing masks and forced open the locked door to the bullet proof glass encased clerk’s area. One of the suspects demanded money and the clerk opened the register drawer. According to IMPD, the suspect then hit the clerk in the head with a silver gun. Both suspects took the money from the drawer and ran off.
The second robbery was around 2 a.m. in the 4100 block of East 16th Street, also at a Conoco gas station. Police say the same two suspects entered the store wearing the same clothing and masks. The suspects again tried to force open the locked door to the bullet proof glass encased clerk’s area. Police say one of the suspects fired a gun at the bullet proof glass, but didn’t get inside the area. After failing, they ran out of the store.
The first suspect is described by police as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a red IU sweatshirt over a grey hoodie, dark sweat pants, a yellow bandana, armed with a silver handgun.
The second suspect is described as a black male, also in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a grey zip up hoodie with dark pull strings, an orange full face neoprene “hunting style” mask, dark sweat pants, black tennis shoes with white and black markings and neon yellow soles, possibly PUMA, armed with a black handgun.
