IMPD locates vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run

UPDATE: IMPD said Wednesday night the Saturn Vue involved in the hit-and-run was found.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for two vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run late Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of South Harding Street on a report of a bicyclist struck just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The bicyclist, later identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as 43-year-old Dustin Craig, was heading northbound in the left lane of Harding Street and was hit from behind by a green Saturn Vue also traveling north, according to IMPD.

Police believe the Vue’s model year is between 2002 and 2007. It will have damage to the front of the driver’s side and the driver side mirror will be missing.

After being hit by the vehicle, Craig was thrown into the southbound lanes and hit by a second vehicle. IMPD did not have any information on the second vehicle to provide.

Police say neither vehicle stopped or reported the incident.

Anyone with information about either vehicle should call the IMPD Crash Investigation Office at 317-327-6549 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
