KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — A 56-year-old woman was arrested Saturday in connection to a 4-year-old boy’s murder.

Helen E. Martin, 56, faces a preliminary charge of murder and on Saturday remained in the Howard County Jail, online records show.

Officers with the Kokomo Police Department were called around 11 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East 400 South on a report of an unconscious, unresponsive subject. They arrived to find a 4-year-old boy being treated by Kokomo Fire Department and emergency medical personnel.

The boy, whose identity was not released Saturday, was taken to Community Howard Regional Health Hospital, where he later died, according to Kokomo police.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. The cause and manner of death of the child was being withheld on Saturday, police said.
