Man arrested for arson, burglary in Hamilton County

DURBIN, Ind. (WISH) — A man who was wanted on arson and burglary charges has been arrested in another arson and burglary case.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 51-year-old Michael Morgan following a fire in the 18100 block of Durbin Road. That’s near Durbin Elementary School in the Hamilton Southeastern school district, and just south of State Road 32 about a mile northeast of Noblesville.

Deputies responded to that location on Friday night. Investigators say evidence of arson and burglary was apparent after the fire was put out. Surveillance video and community tips helped deputies identity a “suspicious subject and vehicle,” according to HSCO.

Online jail records indicate Morgan was booked just hours after the fire.

He was arrested on preliminary charges of arson, burglary, theft, criminal mischief and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Deputies say Morgan was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court. He has an open case from 2019 with charges of arson, burglary and criminal mischief.
