Man arrested with 2 guns in parking lot of Columbus school

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A Columbus man was arrested Wednesday after being found with two concealed firearms outside Central Middle School, police said.

Michael K. Jones, 38, was spotted by a Columbus Police Department school resource officer about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday around vehicles in Central’s staff parking lot.

The officer, Greg Ross, took Jones into custody after determining he had two loaded handguns concealed on him.

Jones was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, where he was put on a 48-hour hold on a preliminary felony charge of possession of a firearm on school property.

Police said Jones’ jail-booking photo was not immediately available.
