INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man died Sunday after a Friday shooting on the city’s east side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 900 block of North Tuxedo Street just after noon Friday on a report of a person down.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the man as Billy Bowman, 45. He died of gunshot wounds.

Police arrived to find Bowman with an injury to the head. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and on Sunday died of his injuries, police said.

Doctors had determined the head wound was consistent with a gunshot wound.

No information about the circumstances of Bowman’s death had been released by early Monday afternoon.
