CUMBERLAND, Ind. (WISH) — A Cumberland mother and her live-in boyfriend are facing charges of neglect after an 8-year-old girl died Monday.

According to Cumberland Police Chief Suzanne Woodland, authorities were called to a home in the 11500 block of Kirkwood Drive Monday after an 8-year-old girl was transported to the hospital.

The girl later died at the hospital.

Woodland says the girl suffered physical injuries and injuries consistent with sexual abuse. A preliminary autopsy report shows the victim died from non-accidental trauma.

The girl’s mother, Kimberly Grosklos, 32, and Grosklos’ boyfriend, Derrick Dale, 29, were arrested Tuesday night and are each facing a charge of neglect of a dependent causing death.

Authorities say three other children, ages 4, 9 and 11, were removed from the home.
