Man dies after found shot at apartments near I-465, West Washington Street
LATEST: The man who was found shot Monday night outside an apartment building was identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday as 24-year-old Lavoris Johnson.
UPDATE: Indianapolis police arrested 22-year-old Larenzo Johnson for his role in Monday night’s shooting on West Ray Street. More information will be provided Tuesday, the department says.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died after being found shot Monday night outside an apartment building on the west side of Indianapolis, police say.
No information was immediately available on the man who died. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release his name and age, and determine his cause of death.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was sent to multiple reports of shots fired shot just before 8:55 p.m. Monday in the 5700 block of West Ray Street. That’s at the Cloverleaf Apartments northeast of the I-465 interchange for West Washington Street.
Homicide detectives were called to the apartment complex after IMPD received a report of a man found with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
IMPD reports a person has been detained for questioning.
“The parties involved are known to one another,” IMPD said in a news release.
Police did not immediately share what might have led to the shooting.

The fatal shooting at the second of at least three Monday in Indianapolis. One person was held for questioning after a fatal Monday morning shooting on the southeast side of Indianapolis, police said. A person died after a later Monday night shooting in a residential area near 30th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.
