Woman dies after shooting in residential area near 30th, Mitthoeffer
LATEST: The woman who died after a shooting on Osceola Lane Monday night was identified by the Marion County coroner on Tuesday as 45-year-old Tracy Harmon.
UPDATE: Indianapolis police arrested 61-year-old Rodregus Morgan for Monday night’s fatal shooting on Osceola Lane. More information will be provided Tuesday, the department says.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman has died after a shooting was reported Monday night in a residential area on the city’s east side, police say.
No information was immediately available about the woman. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will later release her name, age and cause of death.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and medics were called a report of a person shot about 9:50 p.m. Monday to the 3100 block of Osceola Lane. That’s in a residential area northeast of East 30th Street and North Mitthoeffer Road.
IMPD initially reported the woman as being in “extremely critical condition,” but later reported she’d died at the shooting scene.
“Officers detained a male person of interest on scene,” IMPD said in a news release issued later Monday night.
Police did not immediately share what may have led to the shooting.
The fatal shooting at the third of at least three Monday in Indianapolis. One person was held for questioning after a fatal Monday morning shooting on the southeast side of Indianapolis, police said. On Monday night, a man died after being found shot outside an apartment building on the west side of Indianapolis, police say.
