UPDATE: The victim was identified as Jeremiah D. Harden, 20, in a homicide incidents report released March 10 by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died after a shooting Thursday afternoon on the city’s northwest side, police said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to a person shot just after 3:50 p.m. Thursday in the 5000 block of Eagles Watch Drive. That’s in a residential area off West 46th Street west of the I-465 overpass.
“Preliminarily the deceased appears to be an adult but detectives have not confirmed that information at the time of this brief,” said an IMPD news release issued shortly after 7 p.m.
Patrolman Michael Hewitt, an IMPD spokesman, said information about the shooting is very limited. He said neighbors heard shots and called police, who found the man dead. Police could not confirm the man died from a gunshot.
Information was not immediately available on any suspect.
IMPD Chief Randal Taylor was at the scene.
