Police investigate near east side homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon a mile from where two other men were injured in early morning shootings.

Police were called to the 1100 block of Tecumseh Street — that’s just off 10th Street and Woodruff Place — around 2 p.m. Tuesday on a report of shots fired. 

Officer Jim Gillespie with IMPD confirmed a male had been fatally shot.

Tuesday morning around 1 a.m., a 53-year-old man was shot while standing on his front porch in the 900 block of Dearborn Street, about a mile away. He was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital. At 2:30 a.m., two blocks north and one block east at 1100 Lasalle Street, a 50-year-old man was shot, according to a police report. His condition was not listed. 

Around 8:30 p.m. Monday night, two people were injured in a shooting in the 3700 block of North Post Road. Police found one victim at the scene, while a second victim showed up at Community East Hospital. Both were stable, according to Officer Jim Gillespie with IMPD.

And around 9:20 p.m., officers found a man in his 20s dead, with severe trauma to his body, in the 3100 block of North Park Avenue. It was not clear on Monday night whether the trauma was from gunshots.
