Detectives seek help after Circle Centre shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are asking for help to identify a person they believe was with the victim of a Thursday afternoon fatal shooting downtown at the time of the incident.

Detectives describe the man in an image released Friday as wearing a dark-colored hat, dark-colored Nautica sweatshirt, jeans and red tennis shoes.

Marquis Lovett, 26, was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in a Maryland Street parking garage attached to the mall, between Illinois and Meridian streets.

The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. near the entrance of the garage, according to officers at the scene.

Detectives suspected the shooting was an isolated incident involving two people who knew each other but did not specify why the victim was targeted.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the person in the image is asked to call the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
