Police seek suspect after woman sexually assaulted in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Police said Tuesday they are searching for a male after a woman was sexually assaulted in the stairwell of her apartment complex.

About 11:30 p.m. Monday, Bloomington police received the sexual assault report from a 23-year-old woman at the apartment complex in the 400 block of East Second Street. That’s southwest of the Indiana University campus.

The woman told police she had visited a local gym and later stopped at a store before walking home. She said she saw a man walking near the intersection of Second and Grant streets as she approached it. After she crossed Second Street and neared the steps to the apartment complex, she said she was grabbed from behind around her neck.
