Sheriff: Woman killed husband, waited days to call police

NEW MARKET, Ind. (WISH) — A Montgomery County woman is in jail after police say she fatally shot her husband, then waited three days to call police.

Sheila Ridenour, 55, was charged with murder and failure to report a dead body, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

Around 3:24 a.m. Monday, a woman called 911 about a deceased male in the 5700 block of West County Road 700 South, west of the town of New Market, telling the operator she had shot her husband.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find 62-year-old Billy Ridenour deceased. Sheila was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said, and was charged after an interview with detectives.

Ridenour remained in the Montgomery County Jail without bail.

As the case is investigated, anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Aaron French or Detective Ethan Redmon at 765-362-3740.
