Woman arrested for OWI, sped and ran from officers

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A Columbus, Indiana woman who was arrested for operating while intoxicated was caught driving twice that of the posted speed limit, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, a deputy spotted a vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Stephanie Denney, traveling at a high rate of speed on 25th Street near Talley Road. Deputies said Denney’s speed was twice the speed of the posted speed limit.

A traffic stop was then attempted, however, Denney pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 6000 block of East 25th and proceeded to drive in the grass and into a second driveway. She then exited the vehicle and ran into the house.

A short time later, Denney was taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

She faces a number of preliminary charges, including operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated – endangering a person, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
