Woman killed in shooting on city’s east side
UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has since identified the victim as 21-year-old Kailene Munns-Lawrence.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman has died after being shot Friday night on the city’s east side, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
IMPD officers were called to the 3200 block of North Drexel Avenue Friday just before 9:30 p.m. on reports of a person shot. That’s in a residential neighborhood on the city’s east side just east of North Euclid Avenue and north of East 32nd Street.
When officers arrived to the scene they found a woman had been shot. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
The identity of the woman has not been released. It is unclear if investigators have identified a suspect in the shooting.
