INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A male crossing guard has been sent to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle outside of North Central High School.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the crossing guard was struck on 86th Street just west of Keystone Avenue.
The guard is awake and breathing. He is headed to a hospital and has a cut on his head.
IMPD says the driver is cooperating with officers.
The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township released this statement:
This morning during regular drop off at North Central High School, the traffic control officer who directs traffic at the East entrance, was struck by a driver, traveling East on 86th street.
The officer was transported to the hospital and is receiving treatment for his injuries. Our thoughts are with our North Central High School and Washington Township traffic and security officer as we wish him a full recovery.
