Dog alerts owner to house fire
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman whose house caught on fire says her life may have been saved by her pit bull.
Jennifer Green says she was working in her basement when Raja, her pet dog, came down and got her attention. Raja led Jennifer up the stairs where she found out the back porch had caught fire.
Jennifer was able to get out in time, but Raja ran back down to the basement. Luckily, firefighters were able to save him when they arrived.
Green told investigators that discarded ashes from a fire pit caused the fire.
The Indianapolis Fire Department is urging caution as this is the second time in two days it has battled a blaze started in this manner.
