Driver killed in Columbus crash identified
COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Columbus have identified the driver of a vehicle who was killed in a crash over the weekend.
The crash happened Saturday around 1 p.m. Officers responded to the report of a car into a ditch near the 66.5 mile marker, on southbound Interstate 65.
When police arrived on scene they found a 2012 Chrysler 4-door that left the roadway and hit a tree. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Derek J. Miller, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 22-year-old male passenger was transported by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital. As of Monday morning, he was listed in critical condition.
The crash is under investigation.
