Driver, passenger die in Hamilton County crash

HAMILTON COUNTY,Ind. (WISH) – Just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a single vehicle accident.

When police arrived at the scene of the crash in the 2300 block of State Road 13 northeast of Noblesville, they discovered a 1996 Chevy Lumina.

According to an early police investigation, the driver appears to have been traveling north when they lost control in a curve.

The driver then appears to have overcorrected, leaving the road, crossing a creek, and finally slamming into an embankment.

Both the driver, Ashley Steger, 26, of Arcadia, and passenger, Matthew Ferge, 24, of McCordsville, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver and the passenger were not wearing seat belts and they believe speed played a factor in the deadly crash.

Police are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at (317) 773-1282.
