Drone video glides over parks, highlights flooding
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – At its height, the St. Marys River crested at 19.83 feet on Friday after days of heavy rainfall.
Flooding around the city prompted several streets and parks to close, including Foster, Franke, Swinney and Lawton parks.
The drone video above, provided by Keen Aerial Productions, shows the extent of flooding throughout Foster and Swinney parks on Saturday.
It shouldn’t be too surprising that the parks flooded. City spokesperson Frank Suarez said they’ve been designed that way. The parks have been built on flood plains.
Compare the photo below of Foster Park on Sunday to the video shot on Saturday. As of Sunday, water levels on the St. Marys receded more than a foot and a half from its highest point.
