Dry and warm conditions to open the week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Mild temperatures with plenty of sunshine on the last full day of summer.

Today:

High pressure remains in control of the eastern half of the country. With that, expect plenty of sunshine across the area. Some of the wildfire smoke that was overhead of our state last week will make an appearance later today, making for more of a milky sky, and potentially a more colorful sunset.

Highs top out in the middle 70s this afternoon.

Tonight:

Mainly clear, quiet and cool. Lows fall to the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Tuesday:

Warmer conditions with mostly sunny conditions and some of that overhead smoke. Highs top out in the upper 70s.

8 day forecast:

Relatively quiet and warm week ahead, as highs surge to near 80° from Friday through the start of the weekend. Rain chances are very limited this week, with only spotty showers possible for southern counties on Thursday. The next best chance for rain across the state moves in late Saturday into Sunday as a cold front moves through the region.
