Drying out this weekend; rain returns early next week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A brief period of drying out arrives just in time for the weekend.

Tonight:

Low pressure shifts through the state and will continue to help pump out scattered showers and storms to the area.   Rain should be fairly scattered, but a few heavy downpours could be possible.

We’ll see the rain pull away from the area by the late night/early overnight hours.  Lows fall to the middle 60s.

Saturday:

Boundary will still be nearby early in the morning, which could spark a few pop-up showers/storms, but almost everyone remains dry.

Clouds continue to break as we head through the day.  Highs top out in the lower to middle 80s.

Sunday:

Beautiful and warm day from start to finish.  A mix of sun and clouds with highs in the middle 80s.

8-day forecast:

Rain returns to central Indiana starting Monday, with widespread showers and storms likely by the afternoon and evening.  Shower chances continue into Tuesday morning, before wrapping up by the afternoon.  The coolest air of the summer settles in behind the early work week rain, with highs in the middle 70s and lows in the 50s for the second half of the work week.
