Eli Lilly exec., 6-year-old son die in Texas flooding

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The body of an Eli Lilly executive vacationing with her family in Texas was identified Monday, about a week after flood waters swept the vacation home they were staying in off its foundation.

Laura McComb, 34, was an executive sales representative based in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The body of her 6-year-old son, Jonathan Andrew, was identified over the weekend. As of Tuesday evening, emergency crews were still searching for her 4-year-old daughter.

“Our thoughts are with Laura’s husband Jonathan and her family during this difficult time,” Lilly USA President Alex Azar said in a statement. “Laura will be remembered as a wonderful mother and a passionate person who cared deeply about her colleagues and the mission of Lilly in helping patients.”

McComb had worked for the company for 11 years.

Eight people have been confirmed dead in the Memorial Day weekend Texas floods, according to WISH-TV sister station KXAN.
