The pandemic hasn’t stopped the 2020 VMAs. Here’s how to watch

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Sunday will be a night of firsts for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. The iconic show will air on WISH-TV for the first time in its 35-year history.

It’s also the first nationally syndicated live awards show since the pandemic began.

Television personality Keke Palmer is hosting this year’s show which will take place outdoors across all five boroughs in New York City.

Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead this year’s nominations with nine nods each.

Numerous cultural moments in music history happened during the VMAs which are broadcast live. Among those moments include the 2009 controversy when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video. Lady Gaga also created red carpet history when she arrived to the 2010 VMAs wearing a dress made out of meat.

You can watch the show live from New York City on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m. EST on WISH-TV.
