1 dead, 2 injured in I-69 crash at 106th Street
FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — One person has died and two others were injured in a Sunday crash on Interstate 69.
Officers with the Fishers Police Department responded sometime before 2:15 p.m. Sunday on a report of a two-vehicle crash.
According to Sgt. Tom Weger, a preliminary investigation shows a transport van rear-ended a Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the van died at the scene. That person was the van’s sole occupant, Weger said.
Police have identified the person killed in the crash as 66-year-old William Womack.
The two construction workers seriously injured in the crash are 43-year-old Heath Franklin and 41-year-old Isaiah Newsome.
The pickup was carrying a construction crew believed to be picking up barrels along the interstate at the time of the crash. Weger said it was not clear how many people were in the truck, but two were seriously injured.
A crash investigation team was collecting evidence and talking to witnesses.
Just before 6 p.m., one southbound lane had opened near the crash.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
