Fatal crash reported near Rushville
RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – One person is dead following a serious crash near Rushville Thursday afternoon.
An Indiana State Police spokesman said that the crash happened at State Road 44 and 200 East just after 12:30. This is just east of Rushville.
Officials said the crash involved two vehicles and that one person died as a result of the crash.
ISP said that a pickup truck ran into a trash truck that was stopped on the side of the road.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the trash truck was outside of the truck during the crash. He was uninjured.
State Road 44 was closed in the area for almost three hours while emergency personnel responded.
It is not known why the driver of the pickup struck the trash truck.
The victim has not yet been identified by the Rush County Coroner.
