The shooting on 29th and Capitol was the third shooting in less than a day.
Police also say a man was shot and killed near a park around 8 p.m. Tuesday near 21st and Arlington Avenue.
IMPD also released information about a shooting early Tuesday morning near 30th Street and Keystone Avenue. Authorities have identified the victim as 34-year-old Simon Wills. His family says he was gunned down while walking home.
Officer Michael Jefferson tells us police are frustrated by the violence.
“Don’t give up,” said Jefferson. “I mean we can’t do it alone. The police can’t do it alone, we have to do it cooperation and conjunction with community. It’s going to take unity of effort on everybody’s part so keep on working and try to get as many of your neighbors involved as you can to work in cooperation with police.”
As of Monday, IMPD said there have been 82 murders in Indianapolis. In 2015 at this time, there were only 70.
