Fatherhood forum focuses on re-entry

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Helping fathers who want to help their families was the goal of a panel Tuesday night.

The free “Fatherhood Forum”  was hosted by the Indiana Healthy Marriage and Family Coalition at the public library on 38th Street.

Tuesday’s forum focused specifically on how to help men who have been convicted of crimes to successfully re-enter the work force.

Juvenile court judge Geoffrey Gaither moderated the panel.

Also speaking was Damon Lane, a representative from the Mayor’s Office of Re-entry.

“I think it starts with parents,” said Lane. “We have to get these children engaged at an early age to try and prevent individuals going into incarceration, so if we can get the parents, we can get the homes and that will fill over into the community.”
